FAQs

What types of machines and brands do you service and repair?

We currently service Pfaff,  Husqvarna, Singer, Janome and Elna domestic machines.  We are also in the process of getting certified for other machine brands.

What does "authorized repairer" mean?

We are an authorized repairer for Pfaff, Husqvarna and Singer.  This means we have done the official training and are recognized by stewmac as one of their technicians.  We are also repair agents for Janome and Elna and have full access to their service manuals and support through a dealership.

Do you offer discount for pensioners and Community Services card holders?

Yes we do!  We offer a 10% discount.  Please let us know beforehand so we can set our pricing in the system.

How much would a normal machine service cost?

What are service reports?

Most repairers in New Zealand don't give a full service report.  FixnSew provides a comprehensive technical report which another technician could see to determine what work was done.  These reports are stored in our database system so when you visit us again we can pull up the history of the machine.

Do you charge if the machine can't be repaired?

Most repairers charge by the hour so you will have to pay even if the machine is unfixable.  FixnSew has set prices, so for general servicing you pay the fixed price plus parts.  If we discover that the machine is unrepairable you will not pay the service fee.

Why do you charge a fixed service price when others charge per hour?

We do this so there are no surprises to you!  If the service requires extensive repairs and we do need to charge extra labour we will call you to get approval for both the extra labour and the costs of any parts.  There are times where we may spend hours on a machine because of a difficult or hard to find problem.  You can be assured in these instances you are not paying for an unruly hourly charge as we wear the costs!
